First Trailer Released For Walker, Texas Ranger Series Reboot

The world got its first look Monday at the CW's reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger.

Lead actor and executive producer Jared Padalecki shared the series' trailer on social media. Unlike the original series starring Chuck Norris and focusing on his crime fighting skills, Walker is a re-imagining of the 90s action series.

In the new series, Padalecki's Cordell Walker is a man haunted by the death of his wife Emily, who's played by his real-life wife Genevieve Padalecki.

“You the Ranger with the dead wife? Guess you couldn’t protect her, huh?” says a character in the trailer.

In the reboot, Walker moves to Austin with two children after working undercover for two years. According to Deadline, this Walker is attempting to reconnect with his family and is working with a new female partner, Micki (played by Lindsey Morgan). One of the story lines is that Walker becomes increasingly suspicious about his wife's death.

The series was supposed to start production in April, but it was delayed until October because of the pandemic. While the original was shot in Dallas-Fort Worth, Walker is mostly being filmed in Austin.

Walker will premiere January, 21, 2021 on the CW.
