Vanessa Bryant spent her first New Year's without her husband Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna.
On New Year’s Day (January 1), Vanessa took to Instagram with a touching video honoring their memory just weeks before it will have been a year since they passed away. “My gorgeous Gigi and handsome boo-boo,” Vanessa captioned the throwback post, which includes pictures and a clip of Gigi and Kobe sitting together courtside at a basketball game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. “Mambacita and Black Mamba forever. ♥️♥️ #2 #8 #24 #DaddysGirl #GirlDad.”
As fans know, the legendary basketball star, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter were among the several passengers who lost their lives in a fatal helicopter crash on January 26, 2020.
Kobe and his daughter are survived by his wife Vanessa and their three other children, daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka, 4, and 1-year-old Capri.
“There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now,” Vanessa wrote on Instagram at the time. “I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon.”
This new memorial comes just a week after Vanessa unveiled her family’s first Christmas card without Kobe and Gianna. “Always Together, Never Apart Together Forever In Our Hearts. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Kobe, Vanessa, Natalia, Gianna, Bianka and Capri,” the 38-year-old captioned the emotional tribute, which features Vanessa and her daughters all together in a black-and-white photo along with 2019's Christmas card before Kobe and Gianna's tragic passings.
