Gov. Kate Brown plans to step up the amount of COVID-19 vaccinations in Oregon. On Monday (January 4), she directed the Oregon Health Authority to achieve 12,000 vaccinations per day by the end of the two weeks, according to KATU.
“Let me be clear: we must vaccinate Oregonians as quickly as possible,” Brown said. “Oregon families, schools, and businesses are counting on rapid vaccine distribution. We all are.” The governor added that OHA will work with health care providers, pharmacies and the state’s local public health partners to meet this goal.
Oregon originally planned to administer coronavirus vaccines to 100,000 people by the end of 2020. They fell short of the goal, but now they are vaccinating 4,000 people per day.
"This is an all-hands-on-deck effort," she said.
There's been some news regarding available doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration had to say there are no plans to halve or even alter the approved dosage of Moderna's vaccine. Some mumblings claim by reducing the dose, it could make some vaccines available. The FDA even said that such actions put public health "at risk."
