After weeks focused on vaccinating health care workers, Louisiana will allow received a limited amount of COVID-19 vaccines at 107 pharmacies across the state for residents.
Starting January 4, pharmacies will have limited doses of the Moderna vaccine available as part of the state's Phase 1B, Tier 1. As such, the vaccines will only be available for:
- People 70 years or older
- Ambulatory/outpatient care personnel
- Home health services patients and staff
- Students, residents, and staff of schools of allied health
- People being treated for end-stage renal disease (patients on dialysis)

Vaccinations are available by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, contact a participating pharmacy. Phone lines have been busy with an influx of people wanting an appointment, but the Department of Health urges people not to show up unannounced at pharmacies.
