Fresno County is currently in talks with Fresno State to use the Save Mart Center as a possible vaccination site, according to a report from ABC30.
The Save Mart Center is currently being used every few days as a COVID-19 testing center for Fresno State's student-athletes.
Basketball games have also continued without fans in the stands. Wrestling and volleyball are also scheduled to play there.
Other than those occasional uses, the venue has been dark since closures were first announced in March. The Save Mart Center has lost $6 million in gross revenue compared to 2019, according to ABC30.
About 700 employees, including part-time staff, have been affected by the canceled concerts and events.
In an effort to speed up the COVID-19 vaccination process, California announced this week that they would be using stadiums as mass vaccination sites.
The sites include Cal Expo in Sacramento, the Padres Stadium in San Diego, and Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles which was previously a COVID-19 testing site.
The state also announced on Wednesday, January 13, that they would be expanding vaccine eligibility to all Californians 65 and older.
Residents can also expect to see a rollout of a new opt-in notification tool that will notify people when they are eligible for the vaccine.
