Shaq just scored a new gig in metro Atlanta.
Shaquille O’Neal, the NBA legend and Basketball Hall of Famer, will serve as the Director of Community Relations at the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the agency announced Thursday (January 21).
A press conference is slated for Friday (January 22) at 2 p.m. in McDonough to publicly introduce Shaq to the new role.
Sheriff Reginald Scandrett aims to bridge “the gap between the community and law enforcement” with Shaq on board.
"Coupled with Dr. O'Neal's philanthropy, Scandrett and Shaq have a specific plan to begin uniting the Henry County community,” a press release states. “Join us as we announce our first major community relations project."
Shaq has also been sworn in as an honorary sheriff’s deputy in other states, including in Louisiana, Arizona, California and Florida, to name a few.
“I’ve always tried to do my part in the community where I live at, and this is my little town here in McDonough, Georgia, so I always want to take care all the kids," Shaq previously said, according to 11Alive. "All the kids in McDonough know Uncle Shaq, and I try to come around Easter, birthdays and, you know, every major holiday.”
