A Boston woman said she discovered pills inside a bottle of Flintstone Chewable vitamins purchased at Target in Dorchester.
Boston Police are investigating whether tampering was involved with the incident, CBS Boston reports.
The woman said she discovered "various other pills and tablets" inside the container when she got home, noting that there were no vitamins in the container.
Target has removed all Flintstones Chewables from the Dorchester store to confirm whether the incident was isolated.
A spokesperson for Target said the store provided Boston Police with information and surveillance videos in order to aid in their investigation into the incident.
“Target is committed to providing high-quality and safe products to our guests," the company said in an official statement obtained by WHDH. "We were alerted to this situation by the Boston Police Department and have provided them with information and videos to help with their investigation. We’re also removing all related products from the store today so we can inspect them and ensure this is an isolated issue.”
Several shoppers at the South Bay Target at Allstate Road have already expressed concerns regarding the incident.
“It’s not really surprising at this location because I’ve seen a lot of crime here,” one woman told CBS Boston.
Boston Police urge all shoppers to look over their products purchased to ensure that they are not tampered with. The department is actively investigating the incident and is seeking information from the public.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is advised to contact Boston Police Department District C-6 (South Boston) detectives at (617)-323-4742.
