New Colorado Driver's Licenses To Feature Photo By Glenwood Springs Man

A Glenwood Springs photographer will have his work featured on the new Colorado driver's licenses, reports VailDaily.

Matt Nunez's brilliant photo of Mount Sneffels won the Iconic Colorado contest. The contest is aimed at creating a state license that would be called the "most beautiful in the world" in honor of Colorado's centennial.

Over 400 entries from more than 100 Coloradans were considered in the contest.

Nunez's work received 26,529 of 55,760 votes in order to win the contest, according to VailDaily. He submitted three entries, which also earned the second and third most votes in the design contest.

"Sitting around all the time in the age of (COVID-19), I guess I'm just making the most of this opportunity to get outside and take my camera with me," Nunez told VailDaily.

Nunez found out the state had selected him as one of the finalists back in January.

In addition to getting his work featured on the front of driver's licenses, Nunez will also be receiving a $500 grant.

Nunez hopes the recognition will also bring traction to the photography business he manages on the side.

"I have a small business that I run and have been trying to get it off the ground now for a while," said Nunez. "I have a store where people can order prints and have done some work for corporate clients."

The new driver's licenses featuring his photo will be released in the fall.
