Many Coloradans were left wondering what they saw falling from the sky on Sunday morning (January 31).

People across the state whipped out their smartphones and captured blurry footage of three objects moving in unison throughout the sky.

"We were literally just about to talk into the door when I saw what I thought were three jets at first, so I got out my Snapchat and started recording really quick," Gary Arnijo from Wheat Ridge told KDVR. "Usually, you can hear the sound of jets if they were that close, but I couldn’t hear anything.”

A professor at Colorado State University had his own theory on what the three unidentified objects could have been, telling KDVR the UFOs may have been pieces of a satellite re-entering earth.

It wasn't until photographer Memphis Larson from Broomfield came forward with his photos that the mystery was finally solved.

His photos with a high-powered lens show three Boeing C-17A Globemasters flying through the sky. Larson captured the photos at the same time people noticed the UFOs.

The CSU professor, Steven Miller, gave an apology for his false interpretation of the aircrafts.

“Sorry for the misinterpretation, clearly the mystery has been solved and they were in fact contrails from the group of aircraft," said Miller. "Didn’t mean to mislead anyone here, but based on the limited information I had to review they were reminiscent of a satellite re-entry. I stand corrected!”
