San Diego County Gas Prices Reach Highest Mark In Years

Gas prices across San Diego County have been steadily increasing since mid-February.

Now, the average price of regular gasoline has hit its highest amount since November 29, 2019, reports CNS.

The price of a gallon of self-serve regular gas rose for the 31st consecutive day on Thursday, March 11. It's also the 49th price increase in 50 days, reaching $3.832.

According to CNS, the average price increased 48.7 cents over the past 50 days based on figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

They also report the current price is 8.1 cents more than it was just one week ago, 32.2 cents higher than one month ago, and 35.1 cents higher than one year ago.

In February, industry experts cited the severe winter storms in Texas and the Midwest as the reason for the spike in gas prices in California.

They also mentioned the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions across the country would play a role in increasing prices.

With stay-at-home orders being lifted, the vaccine becoming more accessible, and spring around the corner, many Americans are looking forward to traveling in the months leading up to summer.

Gas prices are expected to rise another 15 to 20 cents once a summer blend of fuel made to withstand summer heat hits gas stations in April.
