'I'm Little, Man' Wanted Florida Man Hid In Dryer To Avoid Arrest: Deputies

A Florida man came clean to authorities about how he tried to avoid arrest: folding himself into a dryer, according to WKMG.

Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to serve two warrants for 33-year-old Michael Jay Brook of Umatilla Wednesday night, but authorities said they couldn't find him. Body camera video then shows Brook emerging from a dryer to surprise his partner, who was speaking with deputies at the time.

“I’m going, I’m going. I’m here,” Brook said walking into the kitchen.

“What are you doing here?” the woman said. Deputies said she didn't know he was in the house.

Brook told authorities "he was scared" and apologized to both the deputies and his girlfriend. When he heard they were get getting the K-9s, Brook said he knew it was over.

“I was in the (expletive) dryer, man, and it opened on me,” Brook told one of the deputies, who laughed in response. “I came out. I don’t want that dog. I remember last time." When asked how he was able to fit in the dryer, Brooks said, “I’m little, man. My back’s killing me though,” adding the dryer “fin” was poking him in the back. Lake County Jail records show Brook is 5 feet, 7 inches tall.

Lake County deputies were so amused by Brook's stunt, they posted about it on Facebook:

“We guess he thought he was ‘high and dry.’ Luckily he didn’t go for a tumble,” deputies posted along with Brook's mugshot.

Brook is being held without bail in the Lake County Jail. Records say he was previously arrested on drug charges.
