Murfreesboro Police Use Robot, Drone To Find Wanted Man

If you're running from police and think you have a good hiding spot, think again. Murfreesboro Police were able to utilize new technology to find a wanted suspect hiding in the attic of a home, FOX 17 reports.

According to police, 37-year-old Shelton Hall, of Murfreesboro, had been hiding in the attic of a residence at Center Point Townhomes on the 1300 block of Old Lascassas Road on Thursday (March 18). Captain Cary Gensemer said an officer spotted Hall, a wanted man, looking out the door of the home shortly before 4 p.m. but when approached, he refused to leave the residence.

When Murfreesboro Police's Special Operations Unit arrived on scene, they deployed a robot and drone with cameras to inspect the home. They quickly found Hall hiding under the insulation inside the attic, and he was taken into custody.

"That technology allows us to search and observe potentially dangerous suspects with equipment rather than officers, which keeps officers out of harm's way," said Gensemer. "It also protects suspects and reduces the chances of an armed encounter."

Wanted for a parole violation and for failure to appear, Hall remains at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
