A Colorado photographer had a front-row seat to an epic fight between two hawks and a bald eagle in Lafayette. Luckily, he had his camera on him and was able to capture and share the scene from start to finish.
The fight between the two birds happened on Tuesday, July 20 at around 1:30 P.M.
The photographer, Gerry Morrell, was driving behind the Walmart in Lafayette when he noticed what was happening above him.
Morrell shared the story on his Facebook page later that same day.
"The Hawks left the Eagle alone and then the Eagle swooped down to the road and picked up a prairie dog, he then flew to a nearby tree. I always have my camera ready and was fortunate enough to photograph the entire scene," he wrote.
Morrell is a nature photographer from Erie.
"You never know where or when you are going to spot wildlife and these images are a great example of that," Morrell told New Country.
