The popular Whataburger is one step closer to opening its first location in Colorado.

On Wednesday, August 4, Whataburger held a ground-breaking ceremony at the site, reports 9NEWS.

The new location is located in northeast Colorado Springs at 1310 Interquest Parkway.

According to 9NEWS, the site of the restaurant is just yards from an In-N-Out Burger that opened late last year.

The Texas-based burger chain will bring 100 jobs to the community. Whataburger announced they will start hiring for teamers and members at the beginning of September.

Whataburger plans on bringing additional locations to Colorado, including a Dublin Boulevard location by the end of 2022.

"We’ve had the good fortune of meeting quite a few of our new neighbors here in Colorado Springs, and we’ve felt every bit of their hospitality," said Whataburger franchisee William Tamminga.

"We are excited to welcome the first Whataburger to Colorado as they join our InterQuest Marketplace community later in the year. For both loyal fans and first-time patrons, we know this 'Texas Treasure’ will be a big hit with Colorado Springs residents," said Chris Jenkins, CEO of Norwood Development.
