A stolen car was found in a Utah reservoir on Thursday (August 5th). The mini-cooper had been missing since 2017 and was found in the Pineview Reservoir, reported Fox 13 Now. If it weren't for the terrifyingly low water levels in Utah lakes and reservoirs caused by the ongoing extreme drought, the car may have never been found.
The Weber County Sheriff's Office received a call from someone at the reservoir stating that they found a car lying upside down in the water. Search and rescue divers were deployed to locate and search the vehicle. According to the sheriff's office, no one was inside the vehicle.
The Weber County Sheriff's Office wrote on Facebook:
"Marine Patrol Deputies and Search and Rescue responded to Pineview Reservoir on a reported car in the water. The complainant reported seeing a vehicle upside down, in the water near 5500 E SR 39. Search and Rescue divers were able to locate the vehicle and thankfully no one was found inside. The vehicle was reported stolen back in 2017 and appears to have been in the water for an extended period of time."
