A local favorite has been named as Virginias signature state dish.
Stacker.com released its list of the signature foods for all 50 states, which included peanuts as Virginia's signature food choice.
While peanuts may come as a surprise choice to those outside the commonwealth, locals know that Virginia Peanuts are distinct in size and taste, having a distinct crunch in every bite.
Virginia peanuts are the state’s iconic food. They are the biggest and crunchiest of the four peanut types grown in the United States," Stacker's Ellen Dewitt writes. "Virginia peanuts are the variety roasted and sold at ballparks and stadiums, unlike the smaller and more uniform Runner peanuts used largely in making peanut butter."
