A U.S. Coast Guard crew in Oregon had an interesting visit from a "friendly guest" recently.

Officials said the crew was heading to Bandon when they spotted the fin of a great white shark off Coos Bay. Video posted to Facebook gives a closer and much more clear image of the unexpected visitor.

"During a transit to Bandon, the crew was lucky enough to be visited by what appeared to be a 10’-12’ Great White Shark about 2 miles off the coast," the Coast Guard wrote. "This was the first time any of our crew members had witnessed something this spectacular in real life, and certainly something they will never forget!"

Even though the encounter was exciting, the crew began to wonder who was watching who.

"The crew and the shark may have been equally interested in each other," a second Facebook post reads. "We were lucky enough to be able to spend about 10 minutes admiring the presence of this amazing creature approximately 2 miles off the coast of Bandon."

Last month, a man in Massachusetts managed to hook a great white shark while fishing. Another video shows a shark upstaging a teenager by doing a trick above water in South Carolina.
