A "pizza blob" growing out of a dumpster in Louisiana is leaving many to wonder if this is the start to a strange horror movie.
Employees at a Domino's Pizza in Covington tossed some pizza dough into a dumpster before Hurricane Ida made landfall August 29. Since then, the dough has expanded and grown outside the dumpster as temperatures in the region have risen into the 90s, according to the New York Post.
Louisiana resident Nicole Amstutz snapped some photos of the growing blob and shared them in a post on Facebook.
"Back in Covington, dominos threw all of their dough in the dumpster, and now it's growing into a giant, unstoppable blob," she wrote. "Saturday [September 4] morning update: it's still there (picture 2), but the dough inside feel and now there are boxes on top. Dough on the ground is squishy."
The pizza blob has garnered a lot of attention on social media and has even drawn the focus of Food Network personality and TV host Alton Brown, who said, "Guys, I've warned you about this kind of thing."
As the region continues to recover from the devastating impacts of the powerful hurricane, Amstutz tells The New Orleans Advocate that she is glad her post is making people smile.
"I'm really just happy it's making so many people laugh at such a stressful time."
