In honor of Good Neighbor Day 2021, OfferUp released a report that found which American cities were the friendliest to live in.
To determine which cities were the most neighborly, OfferUp used user meet-ups and sales data from August 2020 to July 2021. They analyzed American cities and states across six key traits: communicativeness, friendliness, generosity, honesty, punctuality, and reliability.
According to their findings, California is America's second most neighborly state. The only state more friendly than California is Washington.
The study then went on to break down America's most neighborly cities and four California cities made it to the top three.
San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose all tied for the second-place ranking. They were followed by another California city, Los Angeles.
In terms of the six key traits, here's how the three Bay Area cities ranked:
- Most Communicative - No. 3
- Most Friendly - No. 3
- Most Generous - No. 4
- Most Honest - No. 4
- Most Punctual - No. 4
- Most Reliable - No. 4
