After Los Angeles won its first NFL championship since 1983, former San Diego Chargers, and current Safety for the Rams, Eric Weddle didn't hold back in his postgame press conference.
Weddle called out Chargers GM Tom Telesco for drafting him and then letting him and told reporters that he warned Telesco he would eventually get the last laugh.
The Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, February 13, as Matthew Stafford threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp with one minute and 25 seconds to play.
“Sometimes you go with a gut feel,” said Rams coach Sean McVay of his play call. “I felt like based on the way they had played some of those short-yardage situations that Kupp would have a chance to circle the defense. They defended it really well, but it was a great player making a great play. We don’t make that play, we’re not sitting up here winning that game for sure. Big-time play.”
According to KUSI, Kupp was chosen as the game's MVP for catching eight passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
Many San Diegans view the Rams Super Bowl victory as the latest blow to the Chargers franchise in their "fight for LA."
