Listen To Bridget Todd, Ali Vitali Discuss Possibility Of Woman President

Bridget Todd hosted an in-depth discussion with journalist Ali Vitali to delve into the question: “Will we ever see a woman president?” The powerful conversation takes place as a special episode of There Are No Girls on the Internet, part of iHeartRadio’s Women Take The Mic initiative in honor of International Women’s Day on Friday (March 8).

“It is so important to me to be honoring and lifting up women all over the world,” Todd said as she opened the podcast and reflected on what International Women’s day means to her this year. Todd shared one of her earliest role models in life, late journalist and PBS correspondent Gwen Ifill, who was also the first woman to host a nationally-televised U .S. Public Affairs program with Washington Weekend Review. “You know, some little girls dream of being president. Well, I did not dream of being president. I dreamt of being the woman who asks the person who wants to be president hard questions on television.”

Todd said women should be represented in government, politics, media, journalism, culture, art and more. That’s why she introduced NBC corresponded Vitali, who has covered campaigns and elections for years and published a book titled Electable: Why America Hasn’t Put a Woman in the White House…Yet. Vitali went on to share her experiences following Republicans, Democrats, midterms and presidential elections — “we do it all,” she said with a laugh — the way people perceive and talk about female candidates and more. By the end of the conversation, Vitali reveals her answer as to whether she believes we will see a female president.

“Marginalized voices have always been at the forefront of the internet, yet our stories often go overlooked. Bridget Todd chronicles our experiences online, and the ways marginalized voices have shaped the internet from the very beginning,” reads the description of There Are No Girls on the Internet. “We need monuments to all of the identities that make being online what it is. So let’s build them.”
