CeeLo Green made a "bittersweet announcement" about Goodie Mob as the historic rap group celebrates an important milestone.

On Sunday, May 4, the seasoned artist revealed that the Atlanta-based collective will officially disband after three decades in the music industry. CeeLo Green explained that the group — which consists of Green, Cameron "Big Gipp" Gipp, Willie "Khujo" Knighton Jr., and Robert "T-Mo" Barnett — made a mutual decision to go their separate ways.

"This will be our #farewell," Green wrote on Instagram. "The fans know that we’ve gone through a great deal together so, for no reasons in particular let’s just call it 'natural causes' and we all agree that it’s #time."

Goodie Mob officially formed in 1991 but didn't release its debut album Soul Food until November 1995. Organized Noize produced the album so it was only right for other Dungeon Family members including Sleepy Brown, Cool Breeze, singer Joi, and OutKast to appear on it. Goodie Mob became one of the most prominent rap groups to emerge from the South. The group released five additional albums, including its most recent LP Survival Kit, which dropped in 2020.

The group will celebrate Soul Food's 30th anniversary in November. CeeLo, Big Gipp, Khujo, and T-Mo are also planning to reunite for their final album together as well as a farewell tour. The end of Goodie Mob comes shortly after the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced André 3000 and Big Boi will be formally inducted as part of the class of 2025. It also comes a year after Organized Noize producer Rico Wade's death.

"We all appreciate all of the love over the years," CeeLo Green concluded. "Stay tuned for details.. we did it for #atlanta #love #yall."
