Ariana Grande has had a huge year, and is wrapping up with another amazing achievement: snagging a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Glinda in Wicked: For Good.
Taking to Instagram to express her gratitude after receiving back-to-back Golden Globe nominations, as the 32-year-old pop star was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture, marking her second consecutive nomination for the same role, she shared her excitement on Instagram, writing, "Thank you so much @goldenglobes for this tremendous honor and for recognizing this performance a second time. I'm so moved and grateful, there are truly no words. Thank you, thank you!"
Wicked: For Good received a total of five nominations this year, although it was notably snubbed in the Best Musical or Comedy category, which surprised many given its box office success. Grande's co-star, Cynthia Erivo, also received a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The historic nomination makes her the first Black woman to earn two nods for lead actress in a comedy/musical film, and as Grande shared her excitement for her co-star, she wrote, "And congratulations to my brilliant friend!"
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Grande described her nomination as "just as exciting [as last year's] and kind of blindsiding." She reflected on her experiences from the previous awards season, highlighting memorable interactions with fellow actors like Kate Winslet.
Grande's portrayal of Glinda has been a dream role for her, and she shared insights into the challenging yet rewarding process of filming scenes from both 'Wicked' movies simultaneously. Despite the film's snub in the musical category, both Grande and Erivo's performances have been widely praised.
The Golden Globe Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 11th, 2026, in Los Angeles, with comedian Nikki Glaser hosting.
