NEW RELEASES
JAY-Z - 4:44
JAY-Z has officially released his 13th studio album, 4:44. On Friday (June 30) at midnight, iHeartRadio premiered the project on all of our Hip Hop and R&B stations and social media has lost complete control ever since. 4:44 was executive produced by the one and only No I.D. Without a doubt, No I.D. did one hell of a job bringing things out of Hov that no other producer has ever done in his entire career because we’ve never heard JAY quite like this before. In exclusive audio given to iHeartRadio, JAY-Z spoke about each of the songs on his new album.
For example, when the rapper detailed writing one of the most powerful songs on the album “The Story of OJ,” JAY said: "'The Story of OJ' is really a song about we as a culture, having a plan, how we're gonna push this forward. We all make money, and then we all lose money, as artists especially. But how, when you have some type of success, to transform that into something bigger." When speaking about another standout song “Family Feud,” Hov explained: "'Family Feud' is about separation within the culture. Like, new rappers fighting with old rappers, saying all these things. So, the line is, 'Nobody wins when the family feuds.'" 4:44 is definitely a classic album that gifted the game with gems from the grandmaster JAY-Z and we owe him much gratitude for it.
Calvin Harris - Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1
Even though he admitted that he was over releasing albums, Calvin Harris returns with his fifth studio LP called Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. Trading in his aggressive beat drops for California-kissed melodies, the dance titan teams up with a number of hip-hop collaborators to fuse together breezy melodies with urban sensibility. On the 10-song set, Harris links up with everyone from Frank Ocean and Migos ("Slide") to Travis Scott and A-Trak (“Prayers Up”), and that's only two of the cuts. See: “Skrt On Me” featuring Nicki Minaj and “Faking It” featuring Kehlani and Lil Yachty.
Coldplay - Kaleidoscope EP
Coldplay released their Kaleidoscope EP, which serves as a companion set of songs to the band's 2015 A Head Full of Dreams album. The five-track EP was produced by Rick Simpson with Daniel Green and Bill Rahko, and includes a live version of the band's hit collab with The Chainsmokers "Something Just Like This" (which was recorded in Tokyo back in April), a collab with Big Sean called "Miracles (Someone Special)," as well as a song called "A L I E N S." Also on the EP is "All I Can Think About Is You," which the band shared with fans a few weeks ago, and is being praised as classic Coldplay.
TLC - TLC
The year was 1992. This new colorful, bubbly, swagged-out girl group by the name of TLC released their first album entitled Ooooooohhh... On the TLC Tip and would change the music industry forever. The group instantly became an international sensation and everyone wanted to be just like Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Now, TLC’s self-titled album is here. The 12-track project features T-Boz and Chilli's smooth, silky vocals; as well as Left Eye's voice on the project's interlude.
In an interview with iHeartRadio, TLC spoke about its project. When Chilli and T-Boz were asked why they decided to release a final album, T-Boz said: Timing is everything and the fans really urged us to do this again. And I know for a while, she wanted to do, too. I think I was the slow link here. But, life happens. Then, the record companies are just kind of getting really whack with the 360 deals. Yeah and we're seasoned. So, when our manager came up to us and told us about Kickstarter, we were leery of it.” Chilli added: “Well, once he expressed to us the freedom that we would have, we were like, ‘Okay, we're all down.’ And you know, the fact that this was another way to involve our fans to be a part of this last chapter with us, we were all in for it.”
Superfruit - Future Friends - Part One EP
Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying of Pentatonix have launched their very own side venture called SUPERFRUIT with a two-part debut EP. For the first installment, Future Friends - Part One, the pair offers up seven new tunes, including their electro/funk single, "Future Friends." Oh, and don't be nervous about the future of Pentatonix. Even though singer Avi Kaplan announced his departure from the group in March, they're not splitting up and scheduled to tour America again this summer. See: “Vacation” and “Future Friends"
Rudimental featuring James Arthur - "Sun Comes Up"
Rudimental and James Arthur combined forces to sing about overcoming adversity and their efforts are nothing short of inspiring. As the first new tune since the group's We The Generation, "Sun Comes Up" is a midtempo track with an explosive chorus, which takes the songs into tropical territory. "We spent a long time looking for the right singer for it, and were close to giving up until we met James Arthur; he sang it and we were blown away,” the group said in a statement. "We aren't afraid of taking new directions, and our new material has stepped up to another level. We've travelled the world far and wide and finally we feel like we've returned home on this album."
Rick Ross featuring Anthony Hamilton - "Glory of War"
Rick Ross recruited the smooth, soulful vocals of the one and only Anthony Hamilton for his new banger “Glory Of War.” On the track, Ross raps about changing his life for the better and the steps he had to take in order to be in the bossed-up position that he’s in now. “Seen a lot of young MC’s even die for peace/N***** posting pictures while I’m posted in Belize/Spent those lonely rainy nights praying on my knees/Bein’ overseas is a daily routine,” he raps. Ross also spits: “I cut off some old friends and family members. Hope they know I’m the wrong ni**a, a cold villain / Haters still hating 50 million later / I’ma tell you like a player, better get some paper.” “Glory Of War” comes just a few months of Ross’ release of Rather You Than Me.
Foster The People - "Loyal Like Sid & Nancy"
July will see Foster the People return with their third studio album, Sacred Hearts Club. After the unveil of three cuts, including set leader “Doing it For the Money,” “Pay the Man” and “SHC,” the alt/pop group has now released a fourth track called “Loyal Like Sid & Nancy.” During the four-minute cut, the group heads into a glitchy electro realm, with the title of the track referencing the tumultuous relationship between the late Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols and his late girlfriend, Nancy Spungen. It’s a bit of a wild ride and we don’t want off.
Adam Lambert - "Two Fux"
It’s been a minute since Adam Lambert dropped new music. However, his return tells us that he doesn't give two f**ks about what anybody think. Originally live-premiered with Queen on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last week, "Two Fux" is a slow-burning pop number that hears the entertainer push aside naysayers. "If you think that what I do and how I live's too much/ I don't really really give two fux/ If you think that what I say and what I give ain't love/ I don't really really give two fux,” he sings on the hook. Lambert’s release doesn’t reveal any of the production collaborators, but word on the street has it that the featured guitar solo is the responsibility of Queen's own Brian May.
St. Vincent - "New York"
It's been a while since we've heard from St. Vincent. Annie Clark released her brand new single "New York," which follows 2015's "Teenage Talk," and her 2014 self-titled full-length album. She first shared "New York" during a New York City benefit show, and the melancholy song is about loss. Annie sings, "New York isn't New York/Without you, love" and the bold "You're the only motherf***er in the city/Who can handle me." In the chorus, she continues, "I have lost a hero/I have lost a friend."
Willow Smith - "I Got Myself"
Over the last few weeks, Willow Smith has been releasing a lot of music -- songs with features from artists like SZA and her own brother Jaden. This time around, Willow has shared a song called "I Got Myself," and acoustic song about all of the things she has, which happens to be a lot of the same things many people also have: friends, the sky, the ocean, a dog, etc. She even sings, "Got myself a mouth so I can talk that sh**."
Desiigner featuring Gucci Mane - "Liife"
It’s been over a month since Desiigner released “Panda” and it took over radio stations, house parties and nightclubs across the country and world. Now, it looks like the G.O.O.D. recording artist is finally ready to drop his debut album, Life Of Desiigner. Desiigner has already dropped his “Outlet” video last week, as well as his collabs with Wiz Khalifa’s “X 4 X 4” & Ski Mask’s “Up Next.” That brings us to his newest single “Liife” featuring Gucci Mane. The two comes together on this song to talk about the things that life constantly throws their way, but outcome. The bread that they stack along the way definitely helps.
Bruno Mars vs. David Guetta - "Versace on the Floor"
David Guetta adds a subtle touch to Bruno Mars’ “Versace on The Floor.” Thankfully, it doesn’t include any huge beat drops or overwhelming production quirks. It’s just Bruno’s voice at the forefront of production with some of Guetta's extra flairs. Think of it as a two-step kind of dance number. “I'm super proud that I had the opportunity to work with Bruno Mars on ‘Versace on the Floor,’” Guetta said in a press release. “It is more than a remix; it is a collaboration and combination of different worlds together. My goal was to make it more dance and DJ friendly, but still respect the music that he came with, and keep the song and his voice in tact because it’s so beautiful."
Prince Fox featuring Bella Thorne - "Just Call"
Bella Thorne hasn't put out music in a while -- she has been keeping herself very busy an actress, after all. But now, Thorne has teamed up with LA-based producer Prince Fox on a new song, titled "Just Call," which was released via Steve Aoki's Dim Mak Records. Bella sings on the track, "So just call if you need me/Call if you don't/Call If you love me/Call if you won't/Call me an a****le/Call me a fool/]Just call."
In a recent interview with NYLON, Prince Fox explained that the two connected after constantly running into each other in LA. He said, "When we finally met, I told her I was working on a song and would love to have her on it. She was down and said, 'We should make it a duet.' The rest is history."
Future & YG - "Extra Luv"
Future called on YG to assist him with his new song “Extra Luv.” Hendrix must really love this track because he’s just added it on his Future album, which was released months ago. “Extra Luv” tells the tales of Future and YG rapping about how the women around them don’t really love them for themselves, but for their lavish lifestyles, instead. The video shows the two rappers in a luxury house with beautiful women surrounding them by a pool. “It's back-back when I come through (back up)/ Come through the back when I come through (back up)/ Got the bag, that's a fact when I come through,” YG raps. “It go brrrrrrrrat when I come through/ Mansion in the Hills and my neighbors is so nosy/ Only Maybach in Bompton so I'm sliding with the 40.”
Future featuring Chris Brown - "PIE"
Another catchy single that Future released this past week is “PIE” featuring Chris Brown. One day after bringing out Kendrick Lamar onstage with him at the BET Awards on Sunday (June 25), Future dropped the music video for his collaboration with Breezy. In the visual, both recording artists turn up in a mansion with female company that all just wants to have fun. It’s a good time for everybody involved. The song has a fun, party vibe that makes you want to hear it over and over. In other words, it’s classic Chris Brown and Future.
OneRepublic - "Truth To Power"
Following their infectious summer tune "No Vacancy," OneRepublic has returned with a powerful new ballad called "Truth The Power." The track, written and produced by Ryan Tedder and T Bone Burnett, will be featured in the upcoming film about the issue of climate change, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power.
In a press release, OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder explained, "Ten years later we are still talking about climate change. Former Vice President Al Gore has again made a film that inspires one to get involved and do something for our planet. It was an honor to create a song with the legendary T Bone Burnett that speaks to the theme of this movie that the 'truth' leads to 'power' when it comes to standing up and helping to create change."
Hunter Hayes - "Rescue"
Finally! New music from Hunter Hayes. The country star released his new song called "Rescue." The track was written during a session with Nashville's super producer busbee, and starts off with some soaring electric guitar riffs, quieting down until the pre-chorus/chorus where Hunter sings, "Through all the highs and lows/The can't undo's I regret the most/The wall so hard feels like I can't get through/Rescue."
EMERGING ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Kacy Hill
If you've been hearing Kacy Hill's name a lot lately, it's no surprise why. The model/singer/songwriter just released her debut album Like A Woman, executive produced by Kanye West.
Kacy had been modeling for American Apparel before being discovered by Italian artist Vanessa Beecroft -- a collaborator of Kanye's. Following that connection, Kacy joined the rapper on his Yeezus tour in 2013, shortly after leaving hopes of pursuing her own music career. And after hearing a demo of Kacy's, Yeezus himself decided to sign her to his G.O.O.D. Music label, which is primarily a roster of hip hop artists.
Now, the Phoenix, Arizona native has released her debut album Like A Woman, featuring her sultry single of the same name, and her song "Hard To Love," in addition to ten other new tracks. Kacy recently told Billboard of the songs on her new album, "They’re all very personal. I think it’s kinda the only way I knew how to write on this album was to make it really close to me. I wrote most of the album from 19 to 22, living in LA alone and who I was, and all of the songs are a reflection of that experience."

EXPERT PICKS
Nicole's Picks:
Stanaj - "The Way I Love Her"
Nothing seems to be slowing singer/songwriter Stanaj down. Earlier this year, he delivered his EP From A Distance, then hitting the road with JoJo on tour, and now he's released his brand new dance-ready track "The Way I Love Her." The song was produced and co-written by Simon Wilcox and hitmaker RedOne. In fact, Stanaj recently told Billboard of working with the producer, "Collaborating with RedOne was such a refreshing feeling. The chemistry came so quickly and naturally; we haven't stopped working for two months now."
Two months? Does that mean an album is coming?! We hope so!
In the song about being in love, Stanaj sings in the first verse, "Butterflies come out when she opens up her mouth/Never heard more perfect sounds/I'm so deep in I could drown/Her eyes are on my eyes."
Lost Frequencies & Netsky - "Here With You"
I love Lost Frequencies. If you've never heard "Reality," do yourself a favor and go listen. But since then, he's released a full-length album, has been all over the EDM festival circuit, and has teamed up with Belgian drum and bass producer Netsky on a new song called "Here With You." The song starts off with only acoustic guitar riffs, reminiscent of LF's previous music, until at the pre-chorus/chorus the rhythm and synths kick in. The song is a little different for both producers, but the finished result proves what a great team they make.

James' Picks:
Petit Biscuit - "Sunset Lover" (Part 2)
Petit Biscuit is gaining traction as one of France's premiere breakout producers and his clip for the tender "Sunset Lover" has dropped, further pushing the 17-year-old's agenda to blend electronics with his skills as a classically trained musician. If you like what you hear, you can check him out on tour throughout North America, beginning August 2 in Washington D.C. and wrapping up in Somerset, Wisconsin at the Summer Set Music & Camping Festival in mid-August. Click here for more information!
Xan Griffin - “Cancer” Feat. Emilia Ali
Speaking of up and coming producers, Xan Griffin is one to keep an eye on, particularly due to his new single, "Cancer," featuring vocalist Emilia Ali. Clocking in at a little more than four minutes, the electro cut hears Ali offer soft and sensual vocals to match with the producer's dreamy production landscape. "The song is so much different from others I have made because it is a major mood change from raging synths and huge build ups to an intimate sensual track that represents this water sign,” the producer said in a statement.

Isha's Picks:
JAY-Z - “4:44”
In his most vulnerable album to date, JAY-Z went deep into himself to reveal some cold, hard truths about his marriage to Beyoncé. Aside from creating songs that empowered the community – and that we respect him for – JAY’s “4:44” track has been trending nonstop because on it, the hip hop GOAT admits to his infidelity. He told iHeartRadio about the track:"'4:44' is a song that I wrote, and it's the crux of the album, just right in the middle of the album. And I woke up, literally, at 4:44 in the morning, 4:44 AM, to write this song. So, it became the title of the album and everything. It's the title track because it's such a powerful song, and I just believe one of the best songs I've ever written."
The executive producer No I.D. even said in a separate interview that he created the “4:44” beat in order to push JAY to speak about his cheating ways. When JAY finally recorded it, No I.D. said the MC walked into the studio, stopped the music that was already playing, started this track and walked out. "And if my children knew, I don't even know what I would do/ If they ain't look at me the same/ I would prolly die with all the shame/ 'You did what with who?'/ What good is a ménage à trois when you have a soulmate? 'You risked that for Blue?'" JAY says on it. Seeing JAY-Z become this open was one of the most difficult things he’s ever done in the booth and whether you love or hate his actions, respect goes out to him for finally being so honest.
TLC - "Scandalous"
“Scandalous” is a song off of TLC’s final, self-titled album. It’s the 9th track on the project and trust us when we say, it’s a sexy one. It definitely gives us low-key “Red Night Special” vibes. The two group members tell their significant others what they want to do to them and what they want to be done right back from beginning to end – and we love it. “Oh boy, you were meant for this/ Do some different s**t, gon' be scandalous, I'ma fall for you, be afraid for me,” TLC sings. “You should come to my home, take me to ecstasy/ Give me your body, Give me your body right now.” “Scandalous” is, without a doubt, one of our favorites on the entire project. We love every second of it!
