Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee Bring 'Despacito' Beauty Queen To The Grammys

January 29, 2018

Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee brought the biggest hit from 2017 to the 60th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (January 28) for a sizzling performance that only reminded us just how huge of a smash it was last year.

For the performance, which was preceded by a tribute number to Chuck Berry from Gary Clark Jr. and Jon Batiste, the Latin heavyweights stormed the stage alongside special guest, Zuleyka Rivera, the beauty queen from the music video. With a troupe of backup dancers, the pair reignited all the summer 2017 festivity on the Madison Square Garden stage, offering Rivera with the spotlight to show off her sensual moves. Still, she's no stranger to the big stage, considering she offered Puerto Rico a huge win when she won the coveted title of Miss Universe 2006. See clips of the performance below.

In addition to the performance, "Despacito" is also nominated for a number of awards, including some of the biggest titles of the nights like Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Click here for a full list of winners from the big night.

Prior to Music's Biggest Night, Fonsi spoke to GQ about the biggest highlight of his 2017 year. "It's so hard to just name one, but I think tying the all-time record for number one on the Hot 100, tying it with Mariah Carey, with a song mainly in Spanish, that was definitely a huge accomplishment," he explained. "Now that we were there for 16 weeks, I rewind a little bit and I remember when we broke the Top 100 and the Top Ten, where every week you're like, 'Wow, we’ve gotten this far.' And then you look back in history and you’re like, 'Whoa, no Spanish song has done that except for ‘La Bamba,’ but it’s not going to go Top 5.' Then, 'It’s not going to go number one, that’s impossible.' And then we get to number one, and it’s like, 'It's not going to be there for two weeks, and then it’s there for three, four five, then sixteen weeks.' We’re like, “what?'"
