Is Ariana Grande's New 'Sweetener' Song 'r.e.m.' A Recycled Beyonce Demo?

This just in: One of Ariana Grande's Sweetener deep cuts might just be a discarded Beyoncé record.

Following her photo-op for Elle magazine, the pop singer gave a sneak peek of a new song during a few rounds of Song Association, a game in which Grande is given a word and has 10 seconds to sing that word in a song. When presented with the word "dream," the 25-year-old sounded off the lyrics to a never-before-heard track called "r.e.m." "Boy you're such a dream to me/ Before you speak, don't move, 'cause I don't wanna wake up," she chants in the clip below.

"That's my song, I just put that one out," she says in the video of the dreamy record, which will feature on her fourth studio album arriving August 17. While the new release is certainly exciting, what's even more surprising is its potential surprising connection to Queen Bey.

As a Beyhive fan account revealed on Twitter with a secret audio of the record, "r.e.m." was originally written for Beyoncé herself. In the demo, below, the "Halo" musician can be heard uttering the same lyrics of the song that were reportedly written by Pharrell Williams.
