Earlier this month, Tenacious D announced a new album, Post-Apocalypto. As if that information wasn't great enough on its own, the comedy rock duo of Jack Black and Kyle Gass also revealed they'd created an animated series of the same name. The YouTube series airs once a week, with its final episode corresponding with the album's release on November 2.
On Friday (September 28), Tenacious D premiered the first episode of Post-Apocalypto and its corresponding song, "Hope." The episode begins with Black and Gass trying to figure out a way to make some money and pay rent, but an atomic bomb ruins everything.
After surviving the blast, the duo comes across a two-headed dog that they name "Hope," and that's when the music kicks in.
Black hand drew every frame of the six-part series, and he and Gass voiced every character. Additionally, Dave Grohl lends his percussion prowess to the album.
Watch the first episode of Post-Apocalypto and listen to "Hope" below.
Tenacious D head out on tour this fall in support of the album. Check out a full list of tour dates below.
