There are women with all different types of bodies in the world, and it turns out that none of them are immune from body-shaming. The case was proven this week when Camille Kostek, a gorgeous Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, posted to Instagram some shots of herself in a bikini. While overall the responses noted how beautiful she is, the few trolls in the comments section seemed louder than anyone else, and they took a toll on Camille.
The photo shows Kostek in a high-waisted neon yellow bikini that she was wearing during a vacation she was on with her boyfriend, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. Somehow, the haters found things criticize and shared their unwanted opinions.
Among the hateful feedback were comments like "that's a wide load there," "she needs the gym and a good doctor," and "gross."
As a model, Camille is used to people speaking bluntly about her body, but in a video she posted in her Instagram story, she explained how it felt to be picked apart by strangers. She said, "I can't begin to explain how many rude comments I got after I posted this photo about my body. But for the women who I was able to help love who they are more from it, I post without hesitation for myself and for YOU."
She included a clip of herself visibly upset by the comments and went on to describe how she struggled with them saying, "I was having a weak moment and allowed some of the comments to get to me that night. I was very emotional. I am human and I always say, if you have to cry to let it out. Let that bad bacteria out, let the bad toxins come out of your body, have your moment.β
In the end, it all made Camille stronger and she used the experience as a learning opportunity for her followers. She stated in her story, "These people are s**t. Theyβre so small-minded. Iβm just coming on here and sharing my experience from one time, because we are our own biggest critics. We know what makes us happy about our bodies and what upsets us. And we do not need to value the opinions of others, at all."
In the wake of comments, Camille has been flooded with compliments like "So confused about anyone commenting negatively on this photo" and "You are beautiful just the way you are. Ignore all the haters."
Thankfully, she hasn't slowed down on posting photos. You can follow her here.
