Yes, you heard us correctly: a fifth Avengers film is already in the works!
According to LADbible, the Avengers won’t end with Endgame — because Marvel boss Kevin Feige has confirmed there will be another follow-up, though with a noticeable twist. While speaking at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, Feige said, “Yes,” another Avengers would assemble once again, but with a league of new characters.
As far as what Marvel Cinematic Universe fans can expect the new lineup to look like, Feige said: “It will be a very different team than we've seen before. That's what Endgame was all about. It will be a very different incarnation of the team with some people you've already met and some you haven't met yet."
The news is slightly bittersweet, though, as Marvel fans might have to hold it out until Phase Five before the new Avengers are unveiled.
Of the project, Feige added: “It’s what I love about the Marvel comic method of storytelling. That's not anything we invented, I love that things build up, they build to a crescendo, they all get together, they separate, they change. And now we get to do that, not just in movies but in these mega event series on Disney Plus, [which] has just invigorated all of us at Marvel Studios to keep going."
The Avengers 5 announcement comes days after Marvel unveiled its Phase 4 films at the Hall H convention over the weekend. Among its forthcoming ventures include a new Blade reboot (starring Mahershala Ali) and the Natalie Portman starrer Thor: Love and Thunder.
In other exciting Avengers news, Endgame officially dethroned Avatar this week and is officially the highest-grossing film of all-time.
