Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper & More To Honor Aerosmith At Tribute Gala

Legendary band Aerosmith was recently named the 2020 MusiCares Person of the Year and now the first wave of performers have been announced for the tribute gala.

Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper, and Gary Clark Jr. are just a few of the artists who will pay tribute to the band's 50-year history by playing beloved songs by the four-time GRAMMY-winning band. Additional artists attending will be John Mayer, Jonas Brothers, and H.E.R. with more to be announced.

It's hard to imagine Aerosmith's success without frontman Steven Tyler's iconic vocals. The band's bassist, Tom Hamilton, recently confessed that Steven Tyler was convinced to join Aerosmith after being told he didn't need to drum anymore and could be the lead singer.

Aerosmith becomes only the second band in MusiCares history to be named Person of the Year after Fleetwood Mac took the honor in 2018.

Proceeds from the January 24 MusiCares gala will help provide essential support for the charity's initiatives to provide a safety net of critical assistance for musicians and others in the music industry in times of need.

A MusiCares statement read: “The four-time GRAMMY-winning group is being recognized for their considerable philanthropic efforts over five decades and undeniable impact on American music history.”
