Halsey Is The Cowgirl Who Got Away In Sexy 'You Should Be Sad' Music Video

Halsey stripped down for her sexiest music video yet.

The songbird blessed diehards with a confessional ballad entitled “You Should Be Sad” — and if the title doesn’t send the message, the visuals certainly do. For the video behind the song, Halsey goes full Western in a cowgirl getup while belting her country-twanged melody from the receiving end of a toxic relationship.

If you thought Halsey gets left with an achy-breaky heart, think again. By the end of the video, the 25-year-old realizes she’s so much better off and comes to embrace that emancipation by baring it all, in more ways than one.

“No, you're not half the man you think that you are/ And you can't fill the hole inside of you with money, drugs, and cars,” Halsey sounds off, before lamenting in the chorus with the lyrics: “Oh, I feel so sorry, I feel so sad/ I tried to help you, it just made you mad/ And I had no warning about who you are/ I'm just glad I made it out without breaking down.”

As Halsey revealed on Twitter, "You Should Be Sad" was inspired by a slew of iconic female musicians including Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, and Christina Aguilera. "Xtina, Gaga, Carrie, and of course Shania, this was one loaded with nods to badass idols of mine," she tweeted. "Had the vision to do a “before he cheats” but instead about after he does haha."

“You Should Be Sad” is the latest single to appear from her upcoming third studio album, Manic, after “Nightmare,” “Clementine,” “Graveyard,” “Finally // Beautiful Stranger,” and “Suga’s Interlude.” The album officially drops January 17, and will be supported during Halsey’s “Manic World Tour,” kicking off in February.
