Wendy Williams Under Fire For 'Mocking' Amie Harwick's Death

Wendy Williams is being dragged (again) for making insensitive remarks on her talk show. Days after being slammed by the LGBTQ community following last week’s episode of The Wendy Williams Show, the talk show host is now under fire for seemingly making light of the tragic death of Amie Harwick.
On Saturday (February 15), Harwick — a celebrity sex and family therapist once engaged to Drew Carey — died after she allegedly fell to her death from the balcony of her third-story apartment after being attacked, presumably by her ex-boyfriend, who has been arrested as a suspect of her murder. Williams apparently used the tragedy as comic material for Monday’s show.
Williams started by explaining how Harwick had been “pushed to her death,” clarifying, “not by Drew, but by the ex.” That’s when she appeared to quip the catchphrase from Price is Right (which Carey hosts), “Come on down,” before turning her face as if watching someone falling from the sky. The audience was silent, Twitter was not.
“She was pushed. It was a domestic violence incident. Wendy Williams is mocking femicide. She needs to be fired ASAP,” one user tweeted. Another called for Williams to be “cancelled,” writing, “How can you allow such utter trash? Making jokes about a murdered woman? Your effing canceled. I will never watch that show ever again.”
Sadly, this isn’t the first time something Williams has said has caused an uproar on social media this year. Last month, upwards of 30,000 people signed a petition to have her fired after her cleft lip joke toward Joaquin Phoenix. She also drew ire from the LGBTQ community after telling gay men to “stop wearing our skirts and heels” on last week’s broadcast.
See what else people are saying about Wendy's recent remarks below.
So in 1 month, @WendyWilliams made a homophobic joke, a joke about Joaquin Phoenix’s “cleft lip”, and now made a Price is Right joke about Drew Carey’s murdered ex fiancée? When is she FINALLY going to be canceled?

This is extraordinary. American talk show host, Wendy Williams, talking about the ex fiancée of Price is Right host, Drew Carey. This show is RECORDED - Yet this still made the final cut. The audience reaction says it all. pic.twitter.com/Fm4iF1dYel

So far in 2020 and bearing in mind its only febuary. Wendy Williams has joked about Joaquin Pheonix' cleft lip, told gay men to stop wearing our dresses and now has joked about Drew Careys ex Amie Hardwick dying by falling off a balcony by saying "just get down". Disgraceful! pic.twitter.com/8B7BJZfWXa

It’s time to cancel @WendyWilliams . Since January, she’s mocked people with cleft palates, ranted and raved about gay men wearing heels and skirts, and most recently, mocked a woman’s death resulting from domestic violence. #CancelWendyWilliams #EnoughIsEnough
