BTS just broke another record with their new single!
The South Korean septet debuted their brand new music video for their latest song, “ON,” on Thursday (February 27). Now, according to reports from YouTube, the group’s latest visual received the biggest YouTube premiere of all-time, garnering 1.54 million watchers in its debut on YouTube Premieres.
Days before dropping the official music video, BTS teased the project with a “Kinetic Manifesto Film” for the track, which appears on the boy band’s latest studio album, Map of the Soul: 7. As described by BTS’ company, Big Hit Entertainment, Thursday’s highly-choreographed, cinematic visual features a montage of movie and television references, including nods to The Maze Runner, Bird Box, The Lion King, Game of Thrones, Narnia and others. In addition, the group also includes biblical stories of Noah’s Ark and Adam and Eve.
What’s more, BTS’ “Kinetic” version of “ON” has since become the seventh most-viewed online video in the first 24 hours with 46.5 million views, surpassing their previous record with “Idol,” which premiered at a record-setting 45.9 million views. As fans know, “Boy With Luv” has held the No. 2 spot on the list having received 74.6 million watchers in its premiere.
In related news, BTS will embark on their upcoming “Map of the Soul” world tour this April.
As previously reported, however, the group was forced to cancel their four concert kick-off shows at their hometown venue, Seoul’s Olympic Stadium, in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. Instead, the band will launch their global jaunt in California on April 25-26 — get your tickets here.
