Being a single parent is no easy task, and doing it in the age of coronavirus is all the more challenging. Having kids home from school, working from home and running a household is a lot to juggle, especially since some stores aren't even letting kids in as a means to protect the children as well as other shoppers. That's not always an option though for single parents, and one mom in Texas took an extreme measure to make sure those around her understood that.
MaryAnn Fausey Resendez knew how people would react to her bringing her young daughter into a store so she put a sign on the girl's back to inform fellow shoppers about her situation. It says, "I am only five. I can't stay home alone so I have to buy groceries with mommy. Before you start judging, stay back six feet."
MaryAnn, who owns a tattoo and piercing parlor, posted to Facebook a photo of the sign on her daughter and captioned it, "The sign I made her wear cuz I just know some dumb*** will take a picture and talk s**t on social media not knowing all the facts."

The post really resonated with people across the country. One commenter wrote, "I have to do this with my six-year-old son. I’m glad I’m not alone. It had momma feeling really really bad!" while another chimed in, "We as people need to stop judging everyone so damn much! It’s getting ridiculous & sad. Stay safe & don’t worry about anyone! We do what we have to do as moms." Another stated, "It’s definitely hard for single parents who have no choice and this parent is doing an excellent job keeping their child safe. It’s the parents I see with both parents there and several kids touching everything, mouthing the cart. That p***es me off."
MaryAnn went on to share exactly what she goes through with her daughter each time they have to venture out for their essentials.
