Worlds collided when Sam Smith and John Legend teamed up for Global Citizen's "One World: Together at Home" concert on Saturday night (April 18) to share positivity and awareness amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the virtual duet, the powerhouse crooners teamed up for a duet of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me" and it was truly a one-of-a-kind moment during the telecast. After Legend took a stab at the opening verse at the piano with an impressive shelf of trophies behind him, Smith let the feel-good energy of the classic take over with pre-chorus duties, before the pair contributed to the hook. The two previously collaborated on a version of Smith's track, "Lay Me Down," for the British charity Comic Relief's Red Nose Day.
While Smith has provided an abundance of music amid the quarantine, Legend has given his followers several glimpses of what it means to be at home with his family. Additionally, you can catch the R&B crooner in our upcoming "Commencement: Speeches for the Class of 2020" podcast. During the podcast, students will be able to hear commencement speeches from Legend and a multitude of people, including Halsey, Kesha, DJ Khaled, Khalid, Pitbull and Tim McGraw, as well as leaders like former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and US General Stan McChrystal and more.
Prior to the "One World: Together at Home" broadcast, over $50 million has been raised to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Click here for more information on how you can help!
