The Lumineers have been helping raise money for their local community in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and recently launched a merch store flash sale with all proceeds getting donated to The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Now, Jeremiah Fraites is fundraising for another charity: No Kid Hungry.
The band's co-founder is teaming up with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) for a gaming livestream called Gaming 2 Give Back. Fraites and DJ deadmau5 will team up with professional gamers Halifax and Hambinooo, and all proceeds will benefit No Kid Hungry — an organization dedicated to ending child hunger. PUBG has also vowed to donate $1 for each unique viewer during the broadcast, up to $100,000.
“During these especially challenging times, we must remember that children should not need to provide for themselves," Fraites said in a statement. "As a father, the mission of No Kid Hungry is one that resonates deeply with me. This event is a great way to help the children most in need of our support and will hopefully inspire others to give back as well.”
Aside from gaming, Fraites also plans to debut his new solo single, "Player Unknown," during the stream before it lands on streaming platforms. All profits from the song will also benefit No Kid Hungry.
Gaming 2 Give Back is set to go down Wednesday (June 24) from 3-7pm EST / 12-4pm PST on PUBG's Twitch Channel. See Fraite's Instagram announcement below.
