Billie Eilish just shared the beautiful artwork for her new song.
On Tuesday (July 28), the five-time Grammy-winning musician signaled the arrival of her latest record, “My Future,” with the dreamy animated cover art for the track. “‘My future’ OUT THURSDAY 4PM PT,” Eilish captioned the illustration, which depicts the teenage superstar as an anime-style character sitting cross-legged while staring at the moon beside a tree on a dark and starry night.
The 18-year-old announced her new single last week, tweeting, “Billie Eilish - ‘my future.’ Out next Thursday.” The superstar also dressed up for the announcement on Instagram, wearing grey sweats, Nike kicks and a pandemic-appropriate black mask to complete her look.
“My Future” will be the latest single release from the songbird since the COVID-19 pandemic struck the United States in March after dropping “Ilomilo” in April.
In February, Eilish premiered the titular theme song for the upcoming James Bond film of the same name, “No Time to Die,” and performed the track live for the first time just weeks later at the 2020 Brit Awards.
Since the pandemic hit the States, Eilish and her brother FINNEAS have been making the most of their time in quarantine by recording new music together. “We wrote a whole song in its entirety — an entire song, which is kind of rare for us. I really love it,” Eilish teased in an interview in May, possibly alluding to “My Future.”
“It was exactly what I needed to say when we wrote it,” she added. “I kind of have this feeling of like, I miss my really close friends, I miss people, of course, I do, but I also at the same time am liking the space.”
