Hayley Williams, Grouplove And More Share Unreleased Songs For Charity

With the 2020 election a mere two months away, artists have been speaking up and doing what they can to ensure every American is able to safely vote on November 3. And what better way to support voting rights than with great music?

Author Dave Eggers teamed up with artist managers Jordan Kurland and Darius Zelkha (Brilliant Corners Artist Management),Christian Stavros (Little Operation Management), and Barsuk Records label head Josh Rosenfeld to curate Good Music To Avert The Collapse Of American Democracy, a 40-song compilation of previously unreleased covers, demos, and live tracks by artists ranging from R.E.M. to Grouplove. Paramore's Hayley Williams contributed a cover of Broadcast's "Colour Me In" and Tegan and Sara shared a demo version of "God Help Yourself."

The album will be available for one day only (September 4) and all net proceeds will benefit Fair Fight, "a voters rights organization that promotes fair elections around the country through voter education, election reform, and combating voter suppression. Famed artist Shepard Fairey created the album art and is selling signed limited edition posters on Friday, with net proceeds going to racial justice organization Color of Change.

“It’s going to come down to bringing out and protecting the vote this fall, so the work Fair Fight does is crucial," Eggers said in a statement. "Jordan and I figured a painless way to raise some money would be to ask musicians to donate unreleased tracks, people pay a few bucks for them, and maybe we can edge toward a functioning democracy again."
