Grimes has a New Year's Day gift to offer fans.
Almost one year after the release of Miss Anthropocene, the alt singer is dropping a rave edition of her fifth studio album. The upcoming set will feature remixes from several DJs, including BloodPop, REZZ, ANNA, and Richie Hawtin, among others. Besides two cuts ("4ÆM" and "Before the Fever"), every song on the LP will be remixed and from the sounds of it, likely take a more electronic route.
Grimes is capping 2020 off on a high note and, boy, has it been a busy one for the experimental singer. Aside from dropping Miss Anthropocene in February, she also became a mother to her first child named X Æ A-12 with partner Elon Musk in May. The child's name caused some headlines, but it seems as if the pair landed on a name that would suit their preferences, as well as the laws of California. After learning that the name didn’t comply with the law, the singer revealed the baby's name had been tweaked to X Æ A-Xii.
If that wasn’t enough, Grimes also launched an art exhibit called Selling Out, where she'll be selling a piece of her soul. "I didn’t want anyone to buy it, so I said we should just make it $10 million and then it probably won’t sell," she admitted to Bloomberg at the time. However, after recruiting her lawyer to help draft a contract of sale, "the deeper we got with it, the more philosophically interesting it became." "Also, I really wanted to collaborate with my lawyer on art. The idea of fantastical art in the form of legal documents just seems very intriguing to me," she explained.
