Six Metro Nashville Police officers who safely evacuated residents prior to the December 25 bombing on Second Avenue will serve as the Tennessee Titans' honorary 12th Titans during the team's Wild Card playoff game on Sunday (January 10.)
The six officers -- Brenna Hosey, Tyler Luellen, Michael Sipos, Amanda Topping, James Wells -- and Sergeant Timothy Miller will attend the playoff game and plunge the Titans Sword of Honor at midfield to begin the countdown to kickoff.
"While we can never thank these officers enough for their heroic acts, it is an absolute privilege to have the opportunity to honor them at the game on Sunday," said Titans president and CEO Burke Nihill in a press release shared on the team's official website. "We are grateful for their service to our community and appreciate that we'll have them on site to support the team."
Titans players will continue to wear a "615 Strong" decal on their helmet during Sunday's game, with the "6" highlighted in Titans light blue to honor the officers.
"To be able to stand at the stadium with [my fellow officers] and receive this honor together is amazing," Officer Wells said. "[Our response on Christmas Day] was a total team effort. It was not what one individual did or said, it was about all of us coming together to protect our community, and keep our community safe and keep each other safe."
On Christmas Day, an individual, later identified as Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, detonated a bomb inside an RV parked on Second Avenue North, which resulted in his death and injuries to five others, as well as a path of destruction in the downtown area and AT&T outages in several states.
The Titans will kickoff Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens at 12:05 p.m. CST.
