Winter Weather Advisories, Storm Watches To Take Effect In Wisconsin

Parts of Wisconsin experienced record-breaking snowfall this week, and the winter weather isn’t over yet.
Wisconsinites can expect more inches of snow and bitter cold weather through the end of the week.
The fresh gust o f winter weather is coming after Milwaukee County Zoo’s Gordy the woodchuck did not see his shadow, predicting an early spring and contradicting Punxsutawney Phil on Groundhog Day (February 2), according to Fox 6.
National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Milwaukee and other parts of southeastern Wisconsin. The advisory takes effect Thursday morning (February 4) at 6 a.m. and will remain in effect until noon on Friday (February 5).
People can expect a “wintry mix to snow. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches will be possible. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. Blowing and drifting snow will be possible,” according to the National Weather Service. “Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.”
Madison and other parts of Wisconsin will be under a winter storm watch from Thursday morning through Friday morning.
That means “accumulating snow with a chance for a light wintry mix. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze possible. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Blowing and drifting snow will be possible…Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.”
