The Wednesday (February 24) attack on Lady Gaga's dog walker and her two French bulldogs has prompted the superstar's father, Joe Germanotta, to speak out about appalling incident.
Joe Germanotta, broke his silence over the whole ordeal in a recent interview with CNN. "We are hoping for an act of kindness so we can get the dogs back," he told the outlet over the phone on Friday. "We are upset about [the dog walker]. It's very appalling that someone would shoot somebody to steal some dogs. Hopefully, they'll be caught so we can get the dogs back safely."
Gaga's dog walker, who had been identified as her friend, Ryan Fischer, is currently hospitalized and in critical condition, per Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez. As for now, LAPD detectives are reviewing surveillance footage that shows two people attacking Fischer, opening fire and grabbing the canines, Koji and Gustav, during their departure.
Meanwhile, an insider close to the superstar told CNN that she is "offering half-a-million dollars to anyone who has her two dogs, no questions asked. Anyone who has the dogs can use this email, KojiandGustav@gmail.com to retrieve the reward." Additionally, the source said that the dog walker is "recovering well," despite being in critical condition.
As per TMZ, several dog walking companies in the neighborhood where the attack occurred are increasing their security measures to prioritize safety. Aside from changing walking schedules, some are even considering arming themselves. Anna-Marie Arredondo, owner of Happy Heart Pet Care in West Hollywood, told TMZ that she's looking into getting a concealed carry permit. She's also looking at taking jiu-jitsu classes and avoiding walking pets in darker routes.
Meanwhile, Renee Lutz, owner of Fetch! Pet Care in the Hollywood Hills, revealed that she's giving all 38 of her dog walkers pepper spray and flashlights. She's also eliminating evening strolls from the business. As for Alyssa and Saul, owners of Troop Canine in Griffith Park, the pair is nixing nighttime walks and looking into purchasing body cams.
