A Colorado Springs man has been banned from hunting in 48 states including Colorado after being accused by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) of illegally killing over a dozen big game animals.

According to The Gazette, 28-year-old Iniki Kapu went on a three-county poaching spree in Teller, Fremont, and Chaffee counties.

Last week, CPW and hearing examiner Steven Cooley suspended Kapu's hunting privileges for life in Colorado and 47 other states that make up the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact, reports FOX21.

Massachusetts and Hawaii are the only two states not included in the program to protect wildlife and hunter's privileges, according to The Gazette.

“Iniki Kapu is viewed as a serious threat to Colorado’s wildlife and his violations are among the worst. The severity and level of indifference for wildlife, in this case, are rarely seen and cannot be tolerated,” wrote Cooley.

The list of big game animals Kapu is accused of illegally killing include two turkeys, 12 deer, and a bighorn sheep ram.

“Let this be a warning to anyone out there who is contemplating poaching wildlife in Colorado,” said Colorado Springs CPW area wildlife manager, Frank McGee. “Colorado Parks and Wildlife aggressively pursues anyone who illegally takes wildlife. When you poach, you are stealing from all residents of Colorado.”

FOX21 reports Kapu has 35 days to appeal his lifetime suspension to the CPW Comission.
