Sonic is getting into the booze business.
The fast food chain is teaming up Oklahoma City's COOP Ale Works to release a line of hard seltzers inspired by Sonic slushes.
Greg Horton of 405 Magazine first broke the news about the hard seltzers on Twitter and shared photos of two variety packs. The "Citrus Variety Pack" includes Lemon Berry, Classic Lemonade, Cherry Limeade, and Original Limeade flavors while the "Tropical Variety Pack" has Orange Pineapple, Mango Guava, Ocean Water, and Melon Medley flavors.
From the photos, it looks like each can will be 5% ABV with 160 calories and 2 grams of sugar.
Definitely the biggest beverage news this year for Oklahoma. @sonicdrivein and @COOPAleWorks have entered into an agreement that will triple COOP’s production. Sonic is bringing some of their famous flavors to hard seltzer starting May 1. @405Mag @RNDC_USA pic.twitter.com/p7vQCzYVQD

Sonic and COOP Ale Works have been very hush hush about their collaboration, but FOX 25 confirmed that the hard seltzers will be released on May 1.
Sonic restaurants won't be selling the 12-packs though. COOP hasn't yet announced where the drinks will be sold. Food & Wine predicts the drinks will be available in the six states where COOP currently distributes its own line of hard seltzers. They are Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Arkansas.
