Demi Lovato will break her silence on her short-lived engagement to Max Ehrich in her upcoming documentary, Dancing With the Devil.

On Tuesday (March 23), the “Sorry Not Sorry” musician will document and detail some of the harrowing events that have transpired in her life in recent years, including her near-fatal overdose in 2018 and being sexually assaulted.

Another aspect of the documentary will see Lovato speaking openly about her ex-fiance Ehrich, whom she briefly dated in 2020 before the couple announced their engagement over the summer.

“All the people that were like, ‘Oh they rushed into it,’ or ‘It’s not gonna last,’ I’m like, ‘You proved them right.’ We were only together four to five months, and like, honestly, it was false advertising,” the “Cool for the Summer” star recalled of the romance, according to Us Weekly.

At the start, everything appeared to be going well for the couple, who even received blessings from Lovato’s mother, Dianna, and sister, Madison. “I got engaged a week ago today, it was just the best day of my life,” Lovato said after the Young and the Restless actor popped the question in July 2020. “I felt like I was floating. It’s been a whirlwind ever since.”

Sadly, things took an unfortunate turn for the pair, who called it quits just months after their engagement.

“So, my life has kind of flipped upside down. I am no longer engaged. I’m really sad that things ended the way that they did. The good news is that I haven’t picked up any hard drugs or anything like that. I’m hanging in there. It's just sh—ty,” she revealed.

In tears, Lovato later admitted that she really missed Ehrich.

“I just miss the person that I started quarantining with. And I don’t know how to give my heart to someone after this,” she went on, adding, “What happened? I think I rushed into something that I thought was what I was supposed to do. I realized as time went on that I didn’t actually know the person that I was engaged to.”

“The hardest part of the breakup was mourning the person that I thought he was … but I’m not the only one who felt fooled,” she explained. “I was just as shocked as the rest of the world at some of the things that were said and done.”
