The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission has partnered with Rivian, a Michigan-based American electric-vehicle manufacturer, to bring charging stations for electric cars to every state park.

On Wednesday, March 17, the Commission voted unanimously to approve the partnership between CPW and Rivian.

The partnership will bring charging stations to all 42 Colorado state parks, according to Denver7.

In addition, the state has also committed to a goal of having 1 million electric vehicles on the road by the year 2030. However, they have been falling behind on charging needs. Which is one of the biggest concerns for people thinking about making the switch to an electric car.

According to Denver7, electric vehicle sales outpaces the installation of charging stations.

“The partnership approved by Colorado Parks and Wildlife will provide even more opportunities for Coloradans to enjoy our incredible state parks and Colorado’s vast great outdoors while encouraging cleaner transportation options which will help advance our state’s climate change goals,” said the executive director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Dan Gibbs.

Denver7 reports Rivian's executive vice president of energy and charging, Matt Horton is committed to installing at least two state-of-the-art chargers in as many as 50 Colorado Parks and Wildlife locations.
