Arson Suspected In Deadly Mountain View House Fire

Three people were found dead in a Mountain View home after a fire erupted on Thursday morning (April 1), reports CBS8.

A San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman, Monica Munoz, said they were first notified about the fire at a single-story house in the 300 block of South 38th Street at about 6:15 A.M.

SDFRD firefighters were able to knock down the flames within 15 minutes. Once they were able to force their way into the home, they found three dead bodies inside.

"They appeared to have succumbed to injuries caused by the fire," said San Diego police Lt. Matt Dobbs.

The identities of the three victims were not disclosed.

Authorities suspected the deadly fire resulted from an act of arson, according to CBS8.

"During the preliminary evaluation of the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire, the investigators discovered suspicious circumstances which led them to believe the fire could have been intentionally set," said Dobbs.

The San Diego Metro Arson Strike Team has been called in for further investigation.

"It is still very early in the investigation, and little is known about the circumstances leading up to the fire," Dobbs said. "Homicide investigators will be working with the MAST investigators to determine the cause and origin of the fire and if it involved foul play. We do not believe there are any outstanding suspects or dangers to the community at this time."
