A group of women had a close encounter with several hammerhead sharks in Pensacola over Memorial Day weekend.

On May 29, Lacey Faciane, Casie Thompson, and Qyuston Eubanks watched on as four hammerhead sharks swam around their float.

The video below shows the sharks circling, then separating, and swimming toward people at the shoreline.

While people seemed shocked, everyone managed to stay calm enough to capture video and even walk near the hammerhead sharks.

"One boater would yell shark and then the next group would yell shark, and that's just kind of how it was. And so by the time they got to us, they were right up on us," Faciane told FOX10.

Everyone was safe but all three women had different reactions to being so close to the hammerhead sharks.

"I was like 'Lord protect us! If it's our time for us to go, it's time for us to go. Just protect us,'" said Eubanks.

Meanwhile, Faciane felt enlightened by the experience.

"Usually you have to pay for that and we didn't have to pay for that. So, yes, it was it was [sic] an awesome experience," she said.

Eventually, the sharks, some of which the women say were up to 8 feet long, circled the boat and then left.

"It's very rare to have a group of hammerheads just swim by you so it's kind of a once in a lifetime kind of thing," said Thompson.
