'Dangerously Hot' Temperatures Will Hit San Diego Next Week

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning residents of a heatwave that will bring "dangerously hot" triple-digit conditions to San Diego County next week.

An excessive heat watch has been issued by the NWS, reports FOX5. It will go into effect at 10:00 A.M. next Monday, June 14, and remain in effect until 9:00 P.M. next Friday, June 18.

"This will be a long duration heat wave impacting most of So Cal. Hot weather will expand into inland Orange County, San Diego County Valleys, and mountains beginning Tuesday. Heat peaking Wed-Thu," the NWS San Diego tweeted on Wednesday, June 9.

According to NWS, temperatures as high as 113 to 118 degrees are possible in the deserts starting Monday, June 14. Forecasters predict the western valleys will reach triple digits on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, avoid the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

NWS also urges people to never leave young children or pets unattended in vehicles under any circumstances, but especially during warm and hot weather. Car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes, according to NWS.
