Several Seattle restaurants were forced to shut down on Sunday and Monday (June 27 and 28) as temperatures rose to record-breaking levels, reports King5.

Seattle eateries like Eden Hill Restaurant in the Queen Anne neighborhood announced they would temporarily close when temperatures hit 100 degrees and people with reservations should call to reschedule.

A few local restaurants such as Pagliacci Pizza were able to remain open because they had air conditioning.

However, the chain had to close its location in Columbia City on Rainer Ave South when one of their air conditioning units broke down.

"On a day like today, all bets are off," the restaurant's co-owner Matt Galvin told King5.

The other locations with working air conditioning were able to stay open and serve customers during the heat.

"We at Pagliacci always take pride in being open, whether it's a snow day, or inclement weather, or busy news nights," said Galvin. "We take a lot of pride in being available for our customers."

Restaurants without air conditioning will likely remain closed as the National Weather Service (NWS) extended the Exessive Heat Warning until Tuesday, June 29, at 11:00 P.M. for Washington state due to "temperatures lingering in the upper 90s on Tuesday with potentially dangerously hot heat index values up to 111."
